At CORCAN Construction worksites, skilled tradespersons train offenders in framing, drywall, plumbing, electrical, and related disciplines. These skills are then used to complete projects, primarily within CSC’s institutions, that are executed to the client’s exact specifications. Through the use of expert construction managers, modern building techniques and project management practices, CORCAN is able to offer a wide range of services that match private sector capabilities and quality.

About CORCAN Construction Programs

It is our responsibility to ensure the training we provide stays current and adapts to changes in labour trends. Construction related fields have been identified as a labour market that will continue to experience exponential growth. As such, construction services remain a key component to CORCAN’s overall program strategy.

Part of CORCAN’s program strategy involves providing offenders with work experiences that strive to mimic private sector work conditions with respect to work environment, productivity and product quality. This is achieved while still recognizing institutional settings and training imperatives. As such, most CORCAN shops are ISO-certified (International Organization for Standardization), resulting in a realistic work experience, which is deemed to be a more effective rehabilitative experience. This further enhances the offender’s employment prospects and reduces instances of reoffending.
